The Hanging Around Bit

So you’ve got the job spec, you’ve submitted the candidates, the interviews have gone really well & your client loves one particular candidate & we’ve given over that indication as we were instructed to. They want the job too…& its all systems go & then….it goes dark….

This gap, this halt, this stumble is one of the hardest things to deal with. You’re here, the client goes quiet & you know them well…this isn’t their style either. They just go to ground. But the candidate doesn’t.

I personally hate fibbing. Even when it suits the business agenda. It doesn’t suit me. And candidates know it. They can sense the ebbing in my voice.

I’m writing this short blog from the stance of being in No Mans’ Land right now. It happens rarely to me (thankfully) & doubtless there’s a good reason for it, but its one of the hardest & most delicate things to manage in recruiting. Make a decision. Just try to see it from the candidate’s point of view too. I’m busy & have several job offers on at once to occupy me / keep me focussed – candidates don’t.

Even if you’re ‘not quite there’ communicate. The job I never lose sight of is to keep the candidate in the process as much as possible, to keep them warm & to communicate. To be put in the dark zone of not knowing isn’t nice. For the candidate & not for me.

If you’re an employer & you suddenly aren’t sure – talk to your recruiter. Fill them in as much as you can. I for one give advice – I’m not just here to force you to fill the job with my candidate. There’s always questions that can be answered – grey areas that maybe need filling in. Just TALK!

If this is the Worlds’ Most Obvious Blog then I apologise. Its real. It’s current & it’s on my worry list today.

I’m Roseanne & I successfully run Nu-Recruit Career Consultants – I place permanent & temporary candidates of the very best quality into great local employers & jobs in Liverpool, Chester & Wirral. In a no-fuss, no-nonsense way.

And I love what I do.

Call me if you think my experience will help you get the best candidate for your job! And please feel free comment on my Blog….
